Code of ethics
Duties of authors
1. Scientific articles submitted for publication in "TPFP" should contain a precise description of the researched phenomena and applied methods, as well as original conclusions and suggestions regarding the development of research and statistical analyses.
Authors should clearly define the purpose of the article and clearly present the results of the analysis. The presentation of the effects of statistical research designed and conducted by the authors requires a description of the methodology used in them. In the case of innovative methods of analysis, it is desirable to provide an example illustrating their application in statistical practice.
The authors are responsible for the content presented in the articles and for the correct citation of the works of other authors. If readers raise objections regarding this content, the authors are obliged to respond via the editorial office.
2. The authors are responsible for ensuring the full originality of the submitted works. The editors do not tolerate the authors' scientific misconduct, such as:
duplicating publications - re-publishing your own work or part of it,
plagiarism - appropriation of someone else's work or its fragment without providing information about the source,
data fabrication – basing scientific work on false research results,
ghost authorship – non-disclosure of co-authors, even though they made a significant contribution to the article,
guest authorship - giving as co-authors persons with negligible or no participation in the preparation of the article,
gift authorship - listing as co-authors people whose contributions are based only on a weak connection to the study.
The authors declare in an appropriate statement that the submitted article does not infringe the copyrights of third parties, has not been published so far and has not been submitted to another publishing house, and that it is their original work, and specify their contribution to the preparation of the article.
If similar materials were presented during a conference or scientific symposium, the authors are obliged to inform the editorial office about it when submitting the text for publication in "PTPF".
3. The authors are obliged to provide in the content of the article all sources of research funding that are the basis of the work.
4. The main responsibility for the reliability of the information provided, including information on the contribution of individual co-authors to the creation of the article, rests with the submitter of the article.
5. Authors submitting articles for publication in "TPFP" take part in the double-blind peer review process, carried out by at least two independent experts in a given field. After receiving positive reviews, the authors introduce the corrections recommended by the reviewers and provide the editors with an updated version of the paper along with a written confirmation that the corrections have been incorporated. If there is a difference of opinion as to the legitimacy of the proposed changes, it is necessary to explain which amendments have been included, and if they have not been included, justify your position. The authors authorize the text after editing and take part in the author's proofreading.
6. If the authors discover errors, inaccuracies or incorrect data in their typescript or text already published, they should immediately inform the editorial office about it in order to correct it, withdraw the text or add a correction. In the case of a correction of an article already published, its new version is posted on the "TPFP" website along with an appropriate explanation.
Duties of the Reviewers
1. Reviewers accept an article for review only if they consider that:
a. have adequate knowledge in a specific field to reliably evaluate the work;
b. according to their knowledge, there is no conflict of interest with regard to the authors of the research presented in the article and the institutions financing them, which they confirm in the statement;
c. may meet the deadline set by the editorial office so as not to delay publication.
2. Reviewers are obliged to maintain objectivity and confidentiality and refrain from personal criticism. They should always justify their assessment by presenting appropriate arguments.
3. Reviewers should indicate published papers important for the research results, which in their opinion should be referred to in the reviewed article.
4. In the event of a high level of convergence of the content of the reviewed paper with other published materials or suspicion of other manifestations of scientific misconduct, the reviewers are obliged to inform the editorial office about it.
5. After the review is completed, the storage of materials sent by the editorial office (in any form) and their use by reviewers is not allowed.
